Introducing XFRA
The distributed data center
What is XFRA?
XFRA is the first distributed data center using existing infrastructure and underutilized power capacity to meet expanding AI compute demand.
It’s designed to deliver gigawatts of new inference compute faster and cheaper than conventional data center buildouts.
The Problem
After decades of flat growth, AI is transforming global energy demand by an order of magnitude.
U.S. data center demand could reach 74 GW by 2028, with a projected shortfall of about 49 GW in available power access.
Even if data center buildout could keep up with growing demand, the bottleneck would still be power delivery infrastructure.
Historical: EIA Monthly Energy Review, Table 7.6 (eia.gov/totalenergy/data/monthly),
Supply forecast: EIA Annual Energy Outlook 2025 Reference Case, Table AB (ela.gov/outlooks/aeo/tables_ref.php); near-term growth from ElA STEO March 2026(+1.2% in 2026, +3.1% in 2027),
Reference demand: IF / Pew Charitable Trusts, America's Electricity Future, Sep 2025 (+25% by 2030 from 2023 base).High demand: Grid Strategies, National Load Growth Report, Dee 2025 (+32% by 2030; values extrapolated from published growth rate - treat with caution).
The XFRA Solution
Unlocking power headroom
XFRA converts underutilized behind-the-meter power capacity into high-value compute, leveraging existing infrastructure rather than waiting for new large-scale interconnects and centralized buildouts.
Powered by SPAN
SPAN Panel can uniquely unlock this hidden electrical headroom in homes and small businesses by using its safe, proven, autonomous power controls technology.
SPAN smart electrical panels are the first to be certified to the UL 3141 standard for power control systems.

XFRA Node
XFRA is purpose-built to be easily installed outdoors together with a SPAN Panel.
Each node is designed to be self-contained, quiet, modular, serviceable, and secure.
SPECS
16 NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs
4 AMD Epyc CPUs
3 TB memory
Fiber networking
35,000 BTU heat pump
(approx. 3 tons) Provides liquid cooling to the compute module
60 db quiet operation
15 kWh Battery
Reliable power for node
home backup during power outages
XFRA Cloud
XFRA nodes work together as a fleet, coordinated through the XFRA Secure Orchestration Layer (XSOL).
XSOL makes many independent nodes behave like a coherent cloud, performing AI inference workloads close to end users, reducing latency.
This allows the XFRA Cloud to coordinate capacity at gigawatt scale.
Host Benefits
Discounted electricity, high-speed internet, SPAN Energy Intelligence, and home backup.
